The Forum of Thought and Strategic Studies calls on Sweden to address the attacks of hate and contempt targeting Muslims
On June 28, 2023, the Muslims of Sweden and the Muslims of the world were surprised when an extremist in the heart of the Swedish capital Stockholm, with permission from the authorities, burned the Holy Qur’an, which is considered an Islamic religious symbol just like the Torah among Jews and the Bible among Christians.
It is highly reprehensible that the Swedish authorities allow the organization of public hate events in this manner, dedicated to insulting Muslims in their religion and sanctities, as Muslims in Sweden have become part of the components of Swedish civil society.
This grave attack came as an expression of racist and extremist tendencies seeking to split the cohesive Swedish civil society, which believes in respect for the other.
One of the priorities of the Swedish government is to bury the causes of societal bullying, to raise the voices of racial discrimination, to stop all its forms, and to bring those who do so to fair trials under the title (insulting religious symbols), which many laws, including anti-Semitism, wrote.
The Forum of Thought and Strategic Studies, which includes public figures including politicians, statesmen, scientists, thinkers, economists, opinion leaders and media professionals from all over the world, strongly condemns this blatant attack in Stockholm on Islamic sanctities and the feelings of Muslims on the blessed Eid al-Adha and similar attacks that preceded it in Sweden. And it is reprehensible to allow these disgusting acts of hatred and provocation to be organized, and to provide justifications for accepting their organization publicly.
It calls on civil society organizations and the relevant official administration, and the Swedish Parliament, to impose policies, systems and regulations that prevent the occurrence of such disgraceful attacks as stipulated in the statement issued by the European Union institutions.
The forum stresses the importance of community partnership between the components of society, peace and security for each individual, and respect for his beliefs and religious symbols.
Hoping that the Kingdom of Sweden will remain a pioneer in defending people and religions.
