The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) strongly condemns the military aggression and heinous actions carried out by the PYD terrorist militia against the populace in east of the Euphrates region. Of particular concern are the indiscriminate shelling attacks on residential areas. These deplorable acts by the PYD militia are a deliberate attempt to foster discord and incite unrest, ultimately aiming to foment internal clashes among the diverse social components of the region. Such clashes would not only jeopardize the safety and security of the local population but also bolster the militia’s own power.

Utilizing ongoing disputes with its partners as a pretext, the PYD militia is exploiting the situation to wreak havoc in the province of Deir Ezzor. The militia’s sinister intent is to quash the revolutionary movement in the area, especially following the active participation of its residents in anti-regime demonstrations that demonstrate solidarity with the movement in Suwayda against the Assad regime. Employing the same nefarious tactics, the PYD militia has resorted to rocket and artillery shelling against innocent civilians.

The SOC unequivocally warns against the perilous nature of the PYD militia’s terrorist tactics in the region. It calls for vigilance against any actions that would further entrench the militia’s dominance over the areas under its control. This is of utmost concern given the militia’s separatist ambitions, which it pursues in collaboration with classified terrorist entities. Offering support to the PYD militia directly contributes to bolstering its capability to perpetrate egregious violations against the defenseless population residing in east of the Euphrates region.

The SOC urgently appeals to the international community to adopt stringent measures in response to the PYD militia’s blatant violations and criminal activities targeting civilians. It underscores the urgency of curbing the militia’s endeavors to sow chaos, which poses a significant threat to the security and social fabric of the region. Additionally, the SOC calls upon nations that have provided backing to this terrorist militia to immediately cease both military and political support.
